JoyFM 's Omissions.....

Notice how JoyFM has conveniently chosen not to state the government's statement on why they sent well armed security personnel to Mr. Poku's house. The CDS of Ghana's army actually spoke on JoyFM and made it public that Mr. Poku threatened to use force should any one dare to debrief him. Why has JoyFM so conveniently refused to make the government's case clear to their listeners?

Below is the report on JoyFM's website:

Sacked National Security Minister, Francis Poku has left Ghana for the United Kingdom to cool off.

He left on Saturday January 19, 2008.

His departure follows a compromise reached after mediation efforts by the Asantehene, Osei Tutu II.

The closed door meeting between President Kufuor and Francis Poku was held following the furore that the dismissal of the latter had caused.

After Mr. Poku was sacked last Saturday by the president, police personnel stormed his residence subsequently. The presence of the police in his residence was later reported as a house arrest.

The government however, denied that and said the incident reported to be a house arrest was a debriefing session.

But Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. J.B. Danquah during an interview on Peace FM, said the police personnel went to Mr. Poku’s residence because he refused instructions to go to Australia House to hand over and had threatened to shoot any one who comes into his residence.

It is not known how long he would be in the UK.

I may have a narrow view regarding this because my exposure to the story is limited to the few lines on this blog. Even with such a narrow perspective; I find it utterly astonishing with the rule of law applied here. An arrest warrant is either in effect or it is not. It is fairly simple for this information to be ascertained in most established democracies via some sort of Freedom of information Act. I don’t know what other avenues is available when a high ranking government official has issued a threat of homicide. If the explanation provided is true then why in Gods name wasn’t this gentleman arrested and trialed. The real blame here lies with the so called journalists involved. If they can’t discern hear say from truth or even likely events, how else is the average regular person suppose to know.

The simplest way to maintain your memory sharp is to be sure that you remain mentally energetic. Physical activity maintains your body fit, and emotional exercise maintains the mind in good shape. Performing crossword puzzles, looking at complex passages, taking part in table online games, or discovering a musical device can all allow you to maintain your mental advantage.
